MEET SHAINA & TOM

Toshana began with a holiday that changed everything.

In late December 2025, Shaina escaped Melbourne for a summer adventure in Karamea. What she didn't expect was to meet Tom, a builder with a love of the outdoors, big ideas and an infectious enthusiasm for creating beautiful spaces. Shaina, a florist and photographer with a passion for design, nature and bringing people together, quickly found herself extending more than just her holiday.

It didn't take long before the two became joined at the hip. Both full of energy, ambitious ideas and a healthy dose of "why not?" conversations about cabins, sustainable living and building something of their own quickly turned into plans.

Just four months later, Shaina packed up her life in Melbourne, loaded up her beloved toy poodle, Boston, and moved home to New Zealand. Two months after that, Toshana was born.

Together, Tom and Shaina bring the perfect balance of creativity and craftsmanship. Tom is the hands-on builder and designer who transforms ideas into beautifully crafted spaces, while Shaina brings the flavour and operational know-how, creating places that feel welcoming, thoughtfully designed and deeply connected to their surroundings.

Based amongst the rolling hills of Orton Bradley Park on Banks Peninsula, Toshana is the beginning of a dream that's much bigger than a single cabin. Every retreat is designed to help people slow down, reconnect with nature and each other, leaving you feeling a little lighter than when you arrived.

Our first cabin is just the beginning. We're building a collection of unique luxury retreats, each carefully positioned within nature and created with sustainability, simplicity and unforgettable experiences at their heart.

We can't wait to welcome you to our little corner of the world.
